Can we sign Kab and cut Harrold. I can not stand Harrold. Harrold will be a scratch most nights anyway. He will go in if someone needs rest or injured. He gets thrown around like a rag doll. Kab at least has some size and can make plays to his Czech mates. |

Just bodies for camp and to make sure the "rookies/younger players" don't get too complacent. There has been a lot of talk about the younger D-men getting the spots but they will still have to earn it! |

For a team that used Bryce Salvador as a #1 D man, (a few years ago), not surprising.
He may make the team, as playing in the system they employ makes it possible.
Not a knock, but they play such a structured, supportive defensive system, that would make it possible.
I'm still surprised they gave the $ to Cammy, instead of a defenseman, (Niskanen). |

They were, like, 6th in the league in goals against and had Brodeur's .901SV% starting 40 games. Defense isn't the issue. |

Moving forward, Salvador is 38, Zidlicky is 37.
Is there enough if they falter, or leave after this season.
Defense wasn't the problem, last year.
That's all I'm saying,
Greene, Gelinas, & Larsson are solid, but would one of the UFA D men that were out there have helped?
Just a discussion/thought, not the common hockey buzz argument, not trolling by any means. |

I don't think he was implying that defense was the issue.....
Niskanen is very good at moving the puck and stretching out the neutral zone. He would've helped create offense.
I'm fine with Cammalleri and I at the end of the day Niskanen certainly got over-paid by Washington, but I just thought I'd clarify his point.
As for Kaberle, I don't think he'll make the team and I don't think a 36 year old that is past his prime is the type of guy you want to keep around for spot duty as a 7th defenseman, but competition is good. |

Thank u
I had meant moving forward, it looks like another defenseman would have been required, (losing Fayne),unless 1 or 2 forwards would be moved for one.
Love Schneider, great move signing him! |

Gotcha and good point...I think they will sign another veteran defenseman (Martin, Oduya?) next offseason after Salvador and possibly Zidlicky are gone |

Very well could be. They should certainly expect to have some growing pains over the first 30-40 games with 3 young defenseman in the lineup. |

That would work, surprised Oduya isn't gone from Chicago yet.
They may actually make that move, as its still early. |

You're right, except Merrill is more solid than gelinas. Zidlicky has only improved defensively, even as he's aged. Gelinas and Salvador are the biggest liabilities. Sal should be playing the role of 2003 Daneyko, but instead is playing the role of Stevens. Yes, a solid UFA dman (robidias) for 1 or 2 years would've benefitted us. This is why I wanted to keep fayne. Sal will get injured, gelinas will be shaky. Fayne, or a UFA, at least gives us some stability and assurance for the top pair... not freaking 38 year old Salvador.
And Kaberle is NOT that either.

And Cammalleri hasn't really lit it up in years, although with a few of the forwards you guys have, and power play time, he may get 30 goals, (he's due).
Please, (no Lecavelier jokes). |

Well he was 7th in the league in 5v5 scoring. If he can stay healthy he's going to do well with Zajac-jagr's strong possession game. |

You do realize on average Rangers have the 5th oldest team in the league right? Hanks time is running out, you guys blew it for him last year - Senor_Elias
Yea but our average age is less than 1 year away from being top 15 youngest in the league. Your average age is like 3 years awat. |

But they got HAYES! He's sure to put them over the top. I think hank has a good 4 or 5 years left. He hasn't played nearly the amount of games as some goalies his age. |

And Zajac plays a similar game to his center backlund, who he had those stats with, and jagr can possess the puck similar to Iginla, who he also did well with. |
